Kilmarnock’s Parks
Kilmarnock has four parks for our citizens, neighbors and visitors to enjoy.
Towne Centre Park
Town Centre Park is a 9 acre park in the center of Kilmarnock at 150 North Main Street. Home to the Half Shell Stage, an open air amphitheatre, it is the home to the Town’s “Music on the Half Shell Stage Concert Series” every summer, the Town’s Christmas tree lighting and holiday festivities and other community events. On site is a children’s playground and splash pad called “River Play”, an open air Pavillion that is home to Kilmarnock’s Farmers Market, restrooms and Scottie Yard, the Town’s dog park.
Scottie Yard
Scottie Yard is located at Kilmarnock Town Centre Park. There are 4 parking spaces at the Dog Park entrance off of Town Centre Drive. The dog park features separate areas for larger and small dogs as well as a watering station and complimentary waste bags.
Baylor Park
Named for Dr. Richard Baylor, the founder and devoted physician of the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic, this park includes a nearly half mile long nature trail that follows an old road around the boundaries of Norris Pond. Added to Virginias birding and wildlife trails, you can view waterfowl, native plants and enjoy the outdoors along this quiet stretch of ground. The park features environmental education opportunities for the public to enjoy. The pond itself is privately owned and is not accessible.
Joe Curry Memorial Park
Located on Waverly Avenue, just one block off Main Street is Kilmarnock’s children’s playground. Honoring Joe Curry, a wonderful community advocate. Designed for the 12 years old and under set, it features swings, slides, climbing equipment, a teeter totter and a GIANT blue crab created in bronze. This project was organized and led by community mothers who wanted an area where children could safely play. Other area organizations have joined in adding to the amenities of the playground.
Two picnic tables and benches are there for your enjoyment. Plan ahead as there are no public restroom facilities.
