In Town Services
The Town of Kilmarnock provides local law enforcement through the Kilmarnock Police Department. Beyond the Town’s limits, law enforcement is conducted by the Sheriff’s departments of Lancaster and Northumberland counties with assistance by Virginia State Police.
These utilities are provided by the Town of Kilmarnock for in town customers and some out of town areas.
Cable TV is provided by Atlantic Broadband within Kilmarnock’s town limits.
Solid Waste and Recycling
There is no town or county provided solid waste pickup or hauling. Residents and businesses take trash to one of the county’s waste sites.
Kilmarnock – Located on White Pine Road (VSH 788) one mile SW of Kilmarnock.
Lancaster – One mile east of Lancaster Courthouse on Regina Road (VSH 604).
Nuttsville – Located on Gaines Road (VSH 723) one-quater mile from the intersection of Nuttsville Road and River Road.
All three sites are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
These sites accept residential waste and limited amounts of commercial waste and construction debris generated in Lancaster County. Used oil, antifreeze, batteries and other hazardous materials, used tires and wood debris are considered “special wastes” and are to be handled as described here.
