PUBLIC HEARING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY OF
NORRIS BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT ON
TUESDAY, DEC. 10
The public is invited to a public hearing to learn more about an environmental study on a proposed project to replace the Robert O. Norris, Jr., Bridge, which carries Route 3 traffic over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
The public hearing for the environmental study will be held:

*In case a backup meeting date is needed for inclement weather, the meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at the same time and location.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff will deliver a presentation shortly after the meeting begins at 5 p.m. and will be available after the meeting through 7 p.m. to answer questions.

VDOT is currently developing a National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) review, in the form of an Environmental Assessment (EA), to evaluate the potential impacts on the human and natural environments that could result from the Norris Bridge replacement and associated proposed improvements. In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106 and 36 CFR Part 800, information concerning the potential effects of the proposed project on properties listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register for Historic Places will be provided in the project’s environmental documentation.
A project construction schedule and proposed design plans are not yet available. Additional public meetings and opportunities to submit public comment will be provided as the project advances.
