Hiring! Public Works & Utilities Mechanic

Performs intermediate skilled trades work installing, maintaining and repairing specialized machinery and equipment within the Town’s public works, well and water distribution system, sewer collection and wastewater treatment plant. Adjusts\repairs\maintains equipment to ensure optimum operation, preparing and maintaining maintenance and repair records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Works and Utilities Superintendent.

Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds routinely, work outdoors and perform maintenance tasks that are sometimes physically demanding. The position is expected to monitor and maintain the various equipment and make adjustments as necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintenance of public works equipment (mowers, mini excavator as example)
• Monitor and maintain WWTP pumps and blowers
• Perform lubrications as directed by manufacturers
• Basic maintenance of fleet vehicles
• Create and maintain repair\replacement records

Work hours are Monday -Friday, 6:00am 2:30 PM with occasional evenings\weekends as assigned. Occasional on call hours. High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license is required.

Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000. This full-time role has the following excellent benefits:
